SCRUMPTIOUS CARAMEL SQUARES
1 pkg (14 oz) caramels
1/2 cup melted butter or margarine
1/3 cup milk
1 cup chopped nuts
1 pkg (6 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 cups Bisquick
1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar
2 cups quick-cooking oats
Heat oven to 350ºF. Heat caramels and milk in 2-qt saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth; remove from heat. Mix Bisquick, oats and brown sugar. Stir in margarine or butter until crumbly. Press half of the mixture in 13” x 9” x 2” rectangular pan, bake 10 minutes. Sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts over baked layer; drizzle caramel mixture over nuts. Sprinkle remaining crumbly mixture over caramel mixture; press lightly. Bake until golden brown, 15 – 20 minutes. Loosen edges from sides. Cut into about 1-1/2” squares while warm. Cool completely before removing. Makes 54 cookies
