Cody has flour on his nose, and Winston - our granddaughter's Corgi - is just waiting to help however he can.

This may be Cody's last Christmas. His pains, aches and arthritis and weak bladder are getting him down. He's a 12 year old chocolate lab puppy.

Hate to hear that. We had to put our black lab down when he was 10 because of kidney failure. I cried when I took him to the vet. The wife cried when I got home. Then her sister called and we all started crying again.

I hope your dog still has a few Christmases left in him! I've had to have the vet come out when 3 of my dogs no longer had any quality of life. Couldn't bear to take them to the vet.

Have you tried glucosamine supplements? All of my dogs had arthritis when they got older, and it helped them. I also had one of them on Metacam, and it helped him quite a bit. The combination gave him about 2 more years of comfortable living.

Glock, we've tried everything. We're gone through this before. Our back yard has at least 6 dogs buried out there. They all died of age-related problems. The vet will come the 1 mile to our house and do the right thing when that time comes.

Wow...6 in the backyard? We only have 3 (all Springers).

It's always a sad day when you have to put your dog down. Here are Theo (male, left) & Miera (female), our current 2 English Springer Spaniels. Miera always comes to my rocking chair & jumps into my lap when I'm watching movies in the family room. Theo would kill anyone who threatened my wife (even me - though he's obedient to my every command).

4. Barney - our basset hound
5. Sara - our 1st chocolate lab
6. Nikki - our Samoyed

9. Emmy - A small mixed breed

Looks like I was mistaken. Nine graves, and we're running out of room for any more, at least on their favorite hill overlooking the back yard, creek, hills, and barn.

It isn't easy saying goodbye to a beloved pet...and I expect they dislike it just as much...enjoy the time you both have left.
