Happy New Year!
« on: December 31, 2013, 07:00:50 PM »
::newyear:: May we all remember those things for which we are grateful, and celebrate them.

::praying:: May God rid our nation of Leftist evil in 2014.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Well, He hasn't done it thus far but then, we know the last miracle as the Resurrection to which I'm eternally grateful. A simple Blessing to our cause is good enough for me. Amen.

Oh and Happy New Year.

I am working on a very nice bottle of Pinot Grigio and spending the evening at home with my family. Except for my son. He is in Honolulu this year. It is the first Christmas/New Year's that my son has not been at home.

He did spend Christmas as the guest of an officer and his family and for that I am grateful.

It is my wish that all of our IAL family members have a great new year in 2014 and that Democrats continue to self destruct and spiral ever further downward because, hey, they deserve it.

Happy New Year!Having a little cheap bourbon on the rocks.
Daughter is at friend's house and it's pretty quiet here.

New Year's doesn't seem the same with Dick Clark gone.

I shared this with some (other) friends so I'll share it here

Quote
New Year's Eve is a lot like:

1.Baseball off season-no matter how bad your team was last year, next season they will win the World Series

2.Gardeners-no matter how bad last year was, when the seed catalogs start coming we dream of next year's bountiful harvest.

We make resolutions and seldom stick to them but it doesn't matter.

It's a time to dream a little and show optimism.

I'm going to lose 50 pounds, quit smoking, make $5000/month in my business and get altogether healthy.

Oh and I've been looking at seed catalogs and will have a bountiful garden

What? Kathy Griffin giving Anderson Cooper an unwanted blow isn't as good as Dick Clark? I'm shocked. Shocked.

So...what's up for tomorrow? Football, of course. Plus a main course of honey baked spiral ham.

I am going to amuse myself by smoking a brisket to be consumed later this week. I bought a half brisket. Well, actually, 2/3rds of one that is mostly the "point." Lots of fat on that end which should make for a very flavorful hunk of meat when it is all said and done. I sprinkled it liberally with a rub that I got from the "Salt Lick Barbecue" in Driftwood, Texas.

Also on the menu for tomorrow (as an appetizer) is going to be a generous serving of freshly deep fried tortilla chips. I am going to slice up some nice thin flour tortillas into little triangular wedges and fry them up and then serve them with some green chile and cilantro salsa. Beats the heck out of dried up tortilla chips in a bag...although we will have some of those, too, so that our guests will know and appreciate the difference.

We have a twelve pack of Shiner Wild Hare Pale Ale, a few bottles of wine and several different bottles of spirits. I am anticipating a very relaxing and enjoyable day.

If any of you are in the area of southwest Colorado...

Oh...and the bad weather which is poised to drop onto the midwest at any second is going to miss our area entirely. A quick perusal of accuweather.com reveals that we are not going to see any significant amount of snowfall during the next month. Bad for skiing, for sure. Plus, mrs. trapeze hates it when there is not snowfall on a regular basis...says that it's not winter-like. So I will have to endure bitching about an area that I have absolutely zero control over. Wonderful.

Happy New Year, all! I was gonna stay up and ring it in, but now I'm sick with chills, so I just went to bed.

Hey, CHF, are you living in the Old North State? There are three or four of us that I know of.

To all of the IAL family NOT blessed to be living in a southern Red State with a Republican Governor, Republican House and Republican Senate, HAPPY NEW YEAR and COME ON DOWN!

Yes, I am. Yesterday, an employee of mine saved the life of a nice white tail buck...or maybe two since they were fighting each other....by calling me just as I sneaked into range.  I am currently not speaking to the idiot who forgot to turn off his cell phone while hunting.....though I do not guarantee how long I can go without speaking to myself.

Happy 2014 to all.  Outdoor hockey at 1 pm for me!  ::beertoast::

Doing that now!   ::thumbsup::

Hockey outside, just like when we were kids!

Gophers play Ohio State outside on the 17th, might have a ticket to go to that game!   ::whoohoo::

Had a quiet night last night...traditional surf & turf meal, watched the TX A&M game...off to bed.

Happy New Year to all my IAL friends!   ::newyear::

May 2014 be the year the GOP gets cleaned out or left behind!

Happy new year friends. Fairly quiet nite, not really into the partying. Started the year off right by taking the boat out ( yes it was chilly) and wetting a line.
