WTF are these people and who gave them the power and authority to censor?!

There will be no trademark for “Redskins Hog Rinds,” a bad omen for the Washington Redskins in the legal battle over their name.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has rejected a request from a company to sell pork rinds using the word “Redskins” because it deemed the term to be “derogatory slang.”

In a letter dated Dec. 29, the agency wrote: “Registration is refused because the applied-for mark REDSKINS HOG RINDS consists of or includes matter which may disparage or bring into contempt or disrepute persons, institutions, beliefs, or national symbols.”

The same agency is deliberating whether to revoke the trademark protection for the NFL team, part of a long-running challenge from a group of Native Americans. A hearing was held in March, and a decision is expected soon.

It's not their business to make such judgements, it is thier function to only process patent and trademark paperwork, fothermucking over-officious bureaucratic asswipes!  Somebody needs to burn their damn house down!

They tellin' me there isn't vile crap getting passed along in their stupid little office that wouldn't offend anybody?  Does Larry Flint have a trademark on Hustler?  How does that compare to this, morally or otherwise?

Screw the Fedcoats.  People should start their own private clearninghouse authority and do what these assholes do without the censorship and cronyism, and let the courts go screw themselves too if they dare interfere!

The Washington Redskins trademark is protected by ex post facto law . The Trademark Office can't touch them .
