Thoughts on "On Broadway"

SELF - what is the defination of SELF?

According to scripture, we should die to SELF and follow the Holy Spirit that's in us. So, SELF is opposed to the Holy Spirit, and could be associated with the Devil that's in us.

For example, if one is guided by SELF, one would probably agree to the song "On Broadway":

Quote
"THEY SAY THE NEON LIGHTS ARE BRIGHT ON BROADWAY
THEY SAY THERE'S ALWAYS MAGIC IN THE AIR
.
.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .
.
AND I WON'T QUIT TILL I'M A STAR ON BROADWAY".

However in Matthew 7:13-14, it says (NIV):

Quote
13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

So, the Scripture guides us, even though it was written thousands of years before the song 'On Broadway", to not pay any attention to this song's lyrics.

Did the songwriter know about Matthew 7:13-14 when he penned the lyrics and wrote it in rebellion? Or, did he pen the lyrics in total ignorance?

No matter the answer, we should know better. Everytime you hear the song "On Broadway", reflect what it really means.
