Fuel pumps.
I had the same problem with my MG. But I was too poor to buy a replacement so I went to the boneyard for a used part (2nd home for a lot of years). Naturally there was a dearth of MG's to pick from so I looked about and found an electric pump that was resting in a '55 Chevy.

I should not have started this thread - I'm to da*n old for this speed shytt anymore.  Reading about the 57 Chevy's, but nobody has talked about the goats or the Hurst Olds, that this speed freak had.  So I started looking to see the new equipment today, holy he*l.   Good thing back then gas was only $.29 9/10 reg. and 32.9 hi-test - see OLD FART.  Couldn't afford to rebuilt any of the old cars today.

Okay, stop griping and just tell me how the heck old you are, OLD FART.

Full time "hobby" if it's got a Lucas electric system.

I should not have started this thread - I'm to da*n old for this speed shytt anymore.  Reading about the 57 Chevy's, but nobody has talked about the goats or the Hurst Olds,

When I was in 1st grade, my dad bought a brand new 65 GTO, red, black interior, 389 w/tri-power and a 4 speed. Since I had studied cars as soon as I could walk, I was in Heaven! When he would take his buddies for a ride, I'd stand in the back seat looking out the back window at the black marks on the road. ::hysterical::

My 2nd worst car was a 68 El Camino SS 396. Of course I was in my mid 20's, so some of it was my fault. The starter bendix ate a bad spot on the flywheel, so if I turned the engine off at said location, it wouldn't start. Then it jumped timing. I bought a 3/4 ton F250 and ended up selling the Camino. I'm still kicking myself over that.

My numero uno worst was really the wife's car. And there were 2 back to back and both Dodges. We won't have anymore of those in the driveway.

I miss my old '73 Duster...light in the ass, the .318 in it burned oil like an old Ford, but she was tough and I could work on it myself and replace stuff as needed without going into hock.  Never had anything major go wrong with it.  And like Pan's Escort I whipped that sucker hard.  I put the peddle down that little bugger would go like a shot.  Actually got a compliment from the Iowa State Troopers for my high-speed driving skill in that baby.  Thank God minor records get tossed.  Well, I think they get tossed.

Anyway, one of the best/worst I had was a 76 Laguna 442, bit of a boat but I should have hung onto to it even if all I did was store it and spiff it up later, but parts were falling off it, transmission was starting to go, it needed a lot of work.  Oh, and chicks dug it.

Cheap, stupid idiot!   ::bashing::

When I got the 57 it was this color - 'uglyyyyyy'

then after repainting and some custom body work - looked similar to this with black top;

Now after finding these pictures - my Dream Car would be this;

Somebody did a hellva job combining a 57 front end, 58 side panels and 59 rear end Chevy.

And who can forget this.

Mine was that exact puke color, as well as having optional Ted Kennedy flotation upgrades.

They certainly have some colors haven't they !!!!!  Lately though it seems manufactures are going back to Henry Fords idea --- "you can get any color you want as long as it's black".
