Pay Attention - The Rationing has Begun

Like a game of three card monte, the FDA, the mainstream media and liberal bloggers have joined together to deny life extending options for victims of breast cancer – sacrificing life on the rationing altar of budgetary constraints. Once you understand how the game is played, you will see that patients will always lose.

Three card monte is a street card game where a dealer uses two shills to con unsuspecting observers to bet money. In this case the dealer is the FDA and the two shills are the Associated Press and the left-wing blog, TalkingPointsMemo.com.

Understanding the game is the key to understanding how ObamaCare and it’s rationing scheme will work. It’s time to learn the rules.

The FDA is tasked to determine the safety and efficacy of drugs. They are not charged to determine drug pricing; just safety. Avastin was originally labeled for treatment of breast cancer patients in an expedited fashion based on initial studies that showed the drug produced on average nearly 6 months without tumor progression. So the FDA is now looking a follow-up study that shows an average of about 3 months without tumor progression. These are average time frames, meaning that many in the studies got more than 6 months or 3 months in the respective studies. The FDA also looked for new adverse events (side effects) and determined that there are no new safety concerns raised in the trials for breast cancer applications for the drug Avastin.

Despite the determination that the drug was safe and effective, the FDA is trying to de-label the drug for use with late stage breast cancer patients by changing the evaluation rules to use the price of the drug to determine its effectiveness. That is rationing. Period. The FDA created a subjective standard they call “clinically meaningful.” Sounds impressive but what does that mean? In the case of Avastin, which has been shown to actually work, the FDA is just saying that the average extension of life of 6 months just isn’t meaningful enough. That is the new rules of the game. The dealer always wins.

Once the rules have been changed, the shills move in. The Associated Press takes the new subjective language intended to lead people to believe the drug is being de-labled because it doesn’t work and in turns that into actually false information saying that “recent studies finding that the drug did not extend patients’ life spans and also increased the incidence of side effects and other complications.” Patently false.

Then when US Senator Vitter expresses concerns about the decision, the Associated Press blatantly and falsely attacks him and attempts to discredit him. Associated Press, reporting on efforts by Sen. David Vitter to ensure doctors had the option of offering Avastin, proclaimed incorrectly that — and this is a direct quote — “While he did not use the term “death panels,” his complaint mirrors false allegations raised last year by Republicans such as former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who claimed the Democratic health care bill included “death panels” that would decide who deserves treatment and who doesn’t.” Talk about bias and the basis for a smear. That is where shill number two comes in.

The Talking Points Memo takes the death panel claim and runs with it. Declaring Vitter’s objections “VitterCare,” the blog quotes generously from the false, bias and misleading implications of the Associated Press story calling Vitter’s actions a “smear.”

Both shills defending the dealer using subjective standards with hazy labels that get turned into patently false information in a compliant and willing media. That is the way the game will be played and patients lose.

The Appropriated Press and TalkingPointsMemo.

These. fvcking. stalinist shills for the lying. stalinist FDA.

People who want to support this "universal health care" ideal, yet run from the fact that it cannot be implemented without rationing, are fools. If they believe the lies of the shills and dealers, they are fools. I think that while we certainly face a barrage of fools multiple times daily, people are also awakening from a slumber, all over this country. The lie that says health care can be "free" and non-rationed simultaneously is being tested by the common sense and intellect of people all across the land, and the truth is assisting in separating the fools from the patriots.

They sure have it in for breast cancer patients don't they? First they change their "recommendations" about mammograms, saying women should no longer have them at younger ages, now they want to de-list a drug that has helped extend the lives of breast cancer patients.

For all the talk about how wonderful Britain's NHS is, we've now heard they are trying to decentralize it because it has become an unsustainable leviathan. It's also not particularly good at delivering, you know, health care. Rates of cancer survival compared to the "heartless USA" are not in their favor. A few months back I read about a young British woman who developed cervical cancer at age 22. She had been denied screenings despite having some predisposition to the disease, on the basis that she was "not old enough for that". Everything is going to be reduced to a set of formulas compiled by bureaucrats. It's amazing how so many people are willing to ascribe to the state some competence at providing our medical care, while that same state can't even fix a pot hole without 18 months of environmental impact studies.

To the ObamaCare idiots to say "I told you so" just doesn't seem adequate, and when (not if) mortality rates fall here, the blood will be on the left's hands. Oh, then talk to me about how the left looks out for women and the little guy, that crap will sound even more hollow and pointless then...

They can't even run Arlington Cemetery properly. With all due respect to the Vets that are buried there, at least they're already DEAD, so it affects only their families.

It's a masqueraded numbers game. The drug's efficacy in late stage cancer cases is, of course, not as great as it might be should the cancer be detected earlier.

BUT!

Now stop wasting money and don't have a mammogram until Slappy and Sec. Sebelius says you can.

Good Lord.
Why do women put up with this garbáge?
Breast cancer, uterine/cervix cancer etc. all have fallen by the wayside in priorities as this country focuses more resources on keeping HIV infected homosexers alive - on OUR dime.

Stand UP, ladies.

To a progressive follower, we as conservatives lie to them all the time so it's no wonder why we're ignored. Presented undeniable facts, they refuse to acknowledge them. Didn't our Lord tell some of those that were following him that parables were used by Him because some just wouldn't head to the truth as he presented.

I agree, to a point. They had enough fools to put the Stalinists in power, and they KEPT getting re-elected. Look at the Kennedy dynasty. I thought Daschle's defeat was going to be the beginning of the end, but no......like the Energizer Bunny, the fools kept going and going......

I think that the way the system is now, the electoral process and contributions and donations and media shills, etc., we'll still see the whores being put back in power. If things get too bleak for them at this point, they'll simply stela elections on an even greater scale. I mean R's and D's.
I think it'll take the 2d Amendment to bring about an end to the current clusterf*** that this country has become.
We are so far past and beyond the “long train of abuses and usurpations” that the Colonists and Founders experienced and which necessitated the Revolutionary War that they aren’t even visible in the rear-view mirror.
