What does Mardi Gras in New Orleans really mean?
What it really means is that this is New Orleans' annual burglary day where all of the city's burglars will be breaking into as many homes as possible while their owners are out at the parades. There is a pretty big uptick in U-Haul and Ryder truck rental the day before because the thieves will be driving into neighborhoods and pretty much going door to door taking as much loot as they can and they need to have large trucks and trailers to deal with the sheer volume of stuff. It's a lot of really hard work but you just have to suck it up and get those stolen goods out of those homes and off to the warehouse where it can be sorted out for the pawn shops and flea markets.
