Reckless Russian anti-satellite test endangers ISS

The rest of the story is noise...

To be honest, the Russian's threw this bone to people predisposed to conflate it into a broader beating...

They should have known better than to risk creating a situation that led to any debris in orbit...there is enough of that crap in orbit already over the past 60+ years from everyone's space programs...

They should have gotten ahead of this better.  Coming up with suggestions in cooperating with all space agencies to gather this and all other debris and send it into the sun would have been nice...

Space around earth is looking pretty trashy.
We are now where The Founders were when they faced despotism.

Wow, I am having a flashback to the days of hilarious Soviet bullsh!t!

https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/russia-admits-destroying-satellite-missile-denies-risky-behavior

They admit launching the missile and causing the explosion that destroyed their satellite...and claim the explosion poses no risk?

For some context on space debris in low Earth orbit, nearly 30,000 pieces of space debris threaten space assets.

"The biggest contributor to the current space debris problem is explosions in orbit,..."

Der!

Long ago the Russians had something in orbit like a small space station. It had a gun of some sort. They were afraid to fire it lest the space station blow up. So they tested it when the space station was empty.  This might have been a manned spy satellite that took photos and even developed film on board.
When the law becomes a ruse, lawlessness becomes legitimate. -unknown
