Of course they've got the goods on them. That's the real purpose of them hoovering up all this data on everyone: to use as leverage over officials elsewhere in the government.
Let's face it, the White House has a Secret Police and they don't answer to the legislature or the judiciary. We're farther down the path of tyranny than even we on this forum often realize. The mechanisms of tyranny are pretty much all in place. All that's necessary to go into a full blown hard tyranny is a push of a button.
