Let me put in a plug for the Chinese Communist Party. Not really.
But seriously folks, listen to how the CCP does it.
It helps to be a CCP princeling, having a father high up in the CCP, similar to Chelsea who has such a father.
Now is where there is a big difference.
Even a princling has to start near the bottom. Pres Xi's father was thrown out by Mao and had to live in the country. Later he was rehabilitated and brought back to Bejing.
Xi moved out into the provinces and held a number positions. It is kinda like the Elks Club. You serve in different ways and make friends, form alliances, kiss butt, and after 30 years maybe you get to be president. China is a democracy where only 10% of people get to vote.
It is a combination Elks Club and modern corporation, where the army is under control of the Elks Club. The PLA answers to the CCP, not the govt.
In China you have to serve in some agricultural provinces and do a decent job. You rotate around different places and do not screw up. Kinda like a modern corporation. If you play your cards perfectly , after 30 years you may get elected to the standing committee of 9, all males so far. Then maybe you get elected to be President, which until recently was limited to two terms.
So Chelsea would start by moving to Iowa and be under party secretary in some pig farming county and do a good job. Then onto some coal mining district, etc. She is a woman so her prospects might be limited.
Pres Xi started out as 1983–1985: Party Secretary, Zhengding County. He made it to the standing committee in only 25 years, due to connections perhaps. He has a Chem Eng degree BTW. No green new deal BS for him.
