Good kitty!   ::grouphug::

Seeing that dog start to drag the boy away was horrible!

I'm not really a cat person, but I'd be damned proud to own that kitty.

The really scary part is the way that hound stalked the kid.

And what place doesn't have leash laws?  The dog owner is in deep doo-doo!  They'll be lucky if their dog isn't destroyed.  And the poor kid is probably going to be fearful of dogs for a while, and it shouldn't be that way, so one stupid owner messes it up for their pet and a little boy.  What a dumbass!

The boy's rescuer is actually a dog in a cat suit.   ::thumbsup::

But...in fairness & tolerance...let's not destroy the dog all @ once. Cut off a leg or 2, then give it back to its owner. Then the following week, cut off something else (maybe the lower jaw)...then the head & dump the torso in their yard.

I think that also disproves the notion of cats being aloof, free agents, only interested in #1. That cat was clearly acting out of protection. I've seen cats challenge much larger dogs out of territoriality or whatever, but this one put itself in harm's way deliberately.  Animals always impress me.

My sisters previous cat would sit on the front step waiting to come in, sometimes all night...and one night a fox was screaming at it three feet from its face, the cat just looked at it...the fox left.  There is something in that ancestral dog/cat DNA that puts fear of the other into them, but it is obviously more than that, the unflappable and boldness of creatures impresses just as much on that fight/flight response.  I think the dog knew it did bad and knew it would have to run from anything reacting to what it did.  Animals aren't stupid, they may make mistakes, but they aren't stupid.
