I figured it would be beneath Putin's ego to buy from someone else. He apparently doesn't have confidence in Russia's technology to build ships.

I would buy ships from the Polish Navy before I touch any Rooskie-made disaster!
Especially anything more complicated than a destroyer!
Putin's qwest to rebuild the Old Empire trumps the embarassment of buying other peoples war machines...
