Why would anyone choose to associate their brand with someone demonstrably loathed by over 1/2 your potential desired audience?
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Because conservatives are slacked jawed, bible toting, gun clingers.

I watched the reruns of the old cosmos that aired prior to the debut of this new show. By comparison, Sagan provided the facts as they were known at the time in a dispassionate yet entertaining manner. It was fun to watch in its innocent observations.
After watching the first 2 episodes of the new cosmos, I am getting the feeling that the "smarter" university types are going to use this platform to confirm their belief in global warming by the time this is all over and that the whole program is just a grand plan to indoctrinate rather than stimulate.
It isn't bad to watch, but most of the information is a rehash of what you can find on cable at any time. It's almost like academia hasn't been paying attention to what the rest of the world has been doing this last decade or so and still thinks it is the apex of all creative thought in the world.
Democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.

Academia has become quite adept at ignoring facts.

Time to ignore them.

I for one will not participate in any aspect of O'Chimpy's cosmos!

What was the process of getting Obama to introduce the show in the first episode?

That was their choice. We didn’t ask them. We didn’t have anything to say about it. They asked us, “Do you mind if we intro your show?” Can’t say no to the president. So he did.

Can't say "no" to the President?  Since when?!

No stones, no audience, no ratings...no more show...
