Wow! A glimmer of hope.

Boom!  Already there are predictions he's gonna pull a Murkowski.

By the way, wasn't it just a few weeks ago that the MSM and eGOP were all dancing on the Tea Party's grave?

Cantor has been a champion for amnesty. Unfettered by electoral consequences, he will be free to take point position in John Boehner's promise to push amnesty before November.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

This is actually quite the coup for the Tea Party. Not just the defeat of an amnesty-lite proponent. Not just the defeat of a self proclaimed enemy of the Tea Party. According to what I heard this evening this is the very first time that a House majority leader has been defeated in a primary which makes this a "historic" event.

According to other things I have heard, the "conventional" DC wisdom is that this defeat is a major win for Democrats. Although the midterms are still scheduled to be huge for the Republicans because of [fill in the blank Democrat scandal de jour] they seem to believe that the now certain-to-be defeat of immigration reform will prevent a conservative victory in 2016. That seems to be a stretch to me given how much time there is between now and the next presidential election.

In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.

Both Dem's and Pubbie's are retarded...

First, the Dem's are already on record saying Cantor did not lose in the primary because of immigration reform, it was because he "lacked a position" on reform, unlike Lindsey Graham who they tout as a bold leader because he wrote a reform bill!, so that right there tells you they know this is a blow to immigration reform chances...usually they cannot wait to attack the GOP for being leashed by whack job extremist Tea Party clowns, but it is obvious even to retards that they don't have to, the Pubbies will do that themselves, and it will be because of trumped up fears of "losing the majority" that will impel them to attack the Tea Party and run Cantor in the general as an independent.  As for the Pubbie's good luck trying to brow-beat fearful members into siding with your Chamber of Congress written amnesty bill!

The summer circus has just begun!

Peter King and et al are worried. It could happen to them.

The Tea Party is dead?  ::mooning::

Maybe Tea Party voters are just more picky than pundits realized. Maybe they'll only vote for someone they care about.

Supposedly Cantor was up by 12%!

My mom likes Canter. Can't wait to hear what she thinks! lol

Cantor spent several million dollars to Brat's $120,000.  LOL.  And seriously, Peter King needs to go drown his sorrows in a tall glass of STFU.  Even if you strongly dislike people in your party, why always make a media spectacle out of it?  That goes doubly for you, Juan McCain.  I mean, when do you ever hear about Democrats doing this in their own ranks?

I think the real difference is that the Democrats are united in service of a common agenda, whereas the GOP is just an incoherent miasma that has no real ideology. The Tea Party wing is trying to give it a real ideology for a change, and the party fossils don't like it.

I do kind of wonder about Cantor's decision to step down as majority leader already, though. They're cooking something up, they have to be. Is it so they can go ahead and get another RINO crony in there now, and let him solidify in the job before the November elections roll around? I guess they'll just move that other turd, the majority whip, into the slot.

How long before Cantor is a pundit for Fox News or president of some lobby group or on the board of some company?

Yeah, no kidding; that's just what Trent Lott and Haley Barbour are doing these days, while Dick Armey got himself tossed out of one of the current conservative groups (can't remember which) for attempting a hostile takeover.  Because leopards never change their spots.

That's Kevin McCarthy, the third in the Triumvirate.

Oh, good Lord.

Ditto Pandora

Cantor did not lose because he was a Jew I would say almost 100% of Conservatives could care less of someone was Jewish or Ghoulish they care what someone stands for. IMHO Cantor did not stick up for conservative values pure and simple as his time as majority leader. Him and Boehner should have been out every-week if not everyday ripping this awful administration and offering alternatives. I have never in my life time have seen a more target rich environment to shoot at then obama and his minions instead I heard crickets mostly form this Republican house leadership.  And their views on Immigration leave me dumb founded.

I pray for the best for Congressman Cantor and his Family and I hope God Richly Blesses Him but I hope he is lead to other work than returning to politics..........

Here we go; more tone crap:

http://www.redstate.com/2014/06/11/toxicity-immigration-rhetoric/

Because we amnesty opponents must not call things what they are, in the case of this latest surge over the border defined as an invasion, and because "Mexican" gives the impression of racism.  For what it's worth, not that Leon seems to get this, it's mostly Mexicans that have made the decision to enclave here and once a critical mass is obtained what one gets is marching in the streets with Mexican flags demanding "rights" and the US flag banned at schools on Cinco de Mayo.  But don't specify Mexicans because racist.

Even "our" side ain't on our side.

Screwed, blued and tatooed, and its too bad RedState had to pick today to burst the small hope-bubble.

Cantor campaign spent more at ONE steakhouse then Brat spent on ENTIRE campaign!

http://www.thefederalistpapers.org/politics/how-much-cantor-spent-at-one-steakhouse-versus-brat-on-his-entire-campaign-and-why-everyone-should-get-involved-in-politics

from the article,  begin quote
"According to Open Secrets, Cantor raised $5.4 million while Brat raised $206,663. While Cantor spent nearly all of his haul ($5.1 million), Brat spent $122,793 for his entire campaign, which was less than what Cantor’s campaign spent at Bobby Van’S alone ($124,177)."end quote

Sooooooooooooooooo,   who do you think would be a better keeper of the public purse,    hmmmmmmmm

To be honest,  I didn't even know Cantor is Jewish..........so that charge falls flat for me anyway.
