Seems that CA Democrats want their dumbass governor to "delay" or maybe even ignore/eliminate the cap and trade regs that are scheduled to affect the oil/gasoline industry next year. Care to guess why?
LINKA group of California Democrats is having second thoughts about the state's expanding cap-and-trade program, urging Gov. Jerry Brown's administration to rethink the plan out of concern that it will drive up gas prices and hurt low-income residents.
The Golden State already has the program in place -- which caps greenhouse gas emissions and requires companies to buy permits in order to breach those caps -- but right now it only applies to power plants and other heavy manufacturers. Next year, California is set to expand the regulations to transportation fuels.
Sixteen state Democratic lawmakers wrote a letter to the head of the California Air Resources Board earlier this month warning this could trigger a cost increase of roughly 15 cents per gallon of gasoline.
Low income residents. Yeah. Sure. I'm surprised they didn't say, "...for the children."
I'm guessing that they are far more afraid of the voters who have already taken a hit via DumbassCare (not a small number) and are not at all interested in throwing gasoline on that particular economic fire.
But that's just me.
Because, hey, since when do Democrats EVER care about the consequences of their legislation UNLESS there is a
possibility sure thing that it might cost them their seat at the table?
Here's the thing: When CA passed their very own cap and trade (because they were going to show DC how to get things done, dammit!) they thought for sure that DumbassCare was actually going to live up to the promises (I could list them but we all know what they are). And they thought for sure that we would have emerged from the Forever Recession (known to those who aren't "true believers" as the Obama Depression) because hey, what goes down just
has to go up, right? Hasn't the economy always gone up before? Sure it has. This one is going to end any minute now and BO and all his little Democrat congress buddies are going to look like heroes and they will all sail right back into office on a slam dunk midterm.
Except that none of those "sure thing" eventualities ever happened. Instead they passed this and all kinds of other economy killing liberal agenda items which have only resulted in driving the successful people out of state. Instead CA has more deadbeats and, thanks to the BO open borders policy, more on the way. By the busload.
Highest cost of living in the entire country. Getting higher. Tax base vanishing...literally leaving town. Hmmm...time to raise an alarm?
Apparently.
