Another band enters the final stage of their career. I've noticed the typical evolution of a band goes from
1. Doing what they do to gain popularity.
2. Trying to "grow" by keeping hip. You can name countless bands in this. REM, U2, Metallica, many others. Some call it their Fat Elvis stage. There are exceptions, AC/DC and Iron Maiden pretty much did the same thing over their careers.
3. Those that do go Fat Elvis, and live longer than Elvis, eventually go back to what made them popular to begin with. REM ended their career with two good albums, U2 gave up "growing" and are putting out good albums, again. And Metallica? The Metallica of St. Anger and the Lou Reed album?
