The bill passed 72-1.  What is unclear from the article is whether this bill presumes to ban the sale in private commerce, or whether this is some bill banning its display on any state owned property.  I am assuming the former, since it's California.  The Left is really showing its authoritarian, totalitarian stripes now.  It used to be a common American virtue that you would support the right of people to express thoughts and opinions (such as displaying a Confederate battle flag) even if you personally found it disagreeable.  But the Left has waged a relentless war to purge the public forum of anything it doesn't like.

So, do you think they would ever attempt to ban the ISIS or al-Qaeda flags?  There's probably plenty of those flying proudly in Berkeley, alongside the rainbow fag flags (further demonstrating the Left's cognitive dissonance in the juxtaposition).

If you click through they say its for State sales only - some State run gift shop was selling replica Confederate money with the Confederate flag on it.  Now they can't.   You can still buy replica confederate money elsewhere or a full on flag. Only the State is not allowed to do so, because the state is full of repressive babies who can't handle reality  and factual history so close their eyes and cover their ears and scream "Nayyh Nayyh I can't hear you!"

Good time to sell bootleg Confederate flag items, demand should be increased if outlawed, right?

If they keep raising taxes, all that will be left is state run stores.
