The Media is reporting D'Souza's halfway house sentence as "avoiding prison." Here are some facts about a Community Correction Center or "halfway house."
1. It is prison, just as a min. security facility is prison.
2. CCC is administered by a local approved private enterprise, but supervised by US Bureau of Prisons.
3. You are encouraged to get a job in order to leave the facility during the day.
4. 25% of your wages are paid to the facility.
5. You build points in order to qualify for weekend furlough.
6. If you are released for the weekend, you must stay at an approved location: family, relatives, etc.
7. After a bit, you may qualify for home confinement where you will pay the costs of an ankle bracelet and monitoring system.
8. When he completes his period of confinement, he will be released to the U.S. Probation Dept.
