The Star Wars Universe was one of the greatest universes ever constructed.

Then they threw it all away just to "reboot."

No.  Just...no.

I couldn't be less interested. And I know I am in the minority re; veneration for the Star Wars universe. I liked it as a kid. Loved it, in fact. But I just don't think those films hold up. Empire Strikes Back is a decent stand-alone story. But it is sandwiched between two pieces of sh*t. The acting across all three of the first films sucks, starting with Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher. The three follow-up films were absolute dreck. They couldn't have been worse.

There are many examples of old films that are timeless. In my opinion, the Star Wars franchise is not among them.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Dude, Carrie Fisher was a real hottie back then.

OK, now post a recent pick...

And to be fair, post a pick of old man Han falling off the MF and breaking his leg.   ::hysterical::

At 24, I weighed 220 and was in great shape. At 57 I weigh 210 and have sticks for arms and legs. Plus look like 10 miles of bad road.

The Seven year old in me takes great offense. The ten year old less so.(I remembering arguing that Darth Vader was lying about being Luke's father, because - ya that guy is evil..)   The thirteen year old was annoyed that they put teddy bears in a movie so they could sell them as toys, and we are not even going to talk about episode 1. It never happened.  Just like I tell my kids aliens ended with the second movie, highlander never had a sequel and Indiana Jones ends with movie three.

I loved Star Wars, bad acting and all.  Still do. (play the old vector arcade game and yes, and I SWEAR it was programmed to give you the force in certain games and you can do no wrong) Because it was the myth they were telling that mattered, not really  how well it was told. And now then  , well, homer it won't be.
Star Wars is still a guilty pleasure for me, but as for the rest--  I prefer the Robot Chicken Star wars episodes to the real thing. (and those are hilarious)

Matter of fact, this pretty much sums up my opinion of the Star Wars Saga as it evolved

Robot Chicken - Star Wars - No Luke, I am your father. That's impossible.

Look, if you are not going to take this seriously, I'm out.

It looks as pointless as I feared.

I'll watch it  when it  comes  around on DVD, etc ,unless my kids want go go, only because I like seeing the whole story vis a vis  sequels,  prequels, etc.
Agree the "first" 3 Star Wars episodes were horrible, but I just had to  look!
But I never regretted seeing them like I  did for Godfather 3. More disappointing than Jaws or Rocky sequels because I  thought Godfather 1 & 2 were so incredibly well done, from story to score to acting.
