why does the regime always say "ISIL" instead of "ISIS"?
« on: February 05, 2015, 05:09:23 PM »
I have noticed that Obama and his entire regime seem to make a point of referring to the islamic terror group as "ISIL" rather than the more commonly used "ISIS."  It finally bugged me enough to post about this when I heard clips of Ashton Carter's confirmation hearing in the Senate.  McCain asked him something about ISIS, and in his response Carter repeated it as ISIL.  I think it is clear that there is an official policy within the regime that the term is going to be "ISIL" and I suspect they coached Carter in this regard.

What do you think their rationale is?  ISIS stands for "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" and ISIL stands for "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" and one theory I've heard is that it all comes down to that word "Levant."  The Levant, i.e. the eastern shores of the Mediterranean, includes Israel.  Could the regime's preference for "ISIL" be a way of asserting that the Levant is fundamentally Islamic, and hence Israel is an illegitimate anomaly on that backdrop.

Or maybe it's no more complicated than his insistence on saying "Pock-ee-stahn."

They (and all of us) should be calling them Daesh not ISIL or ISIS.

ISIL and ISIS denote statehood,  which they are not.   They also hate being called Daesh as well,  and consider it an insult,  so that is good enough reason to use that name.

IIRC, we've had a discussion about this on another thread somewhere. The Levant is indeed a territory that encompasses Israel. It is my firm opinion that the regime uses the term in order to send a message to both Israel and the barbarians who threaten them.

ISIS believes that all Jews should be eradicated along with the state of Israel, just as most Islamic radicals believe. They claim statehood. Obama acknowledges their statehood and throws in Israel as a bonus.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Yes it is a purposeful slam on Israel to use ISIL and yes it legitimizes an Islamic State...and yes they hate the term Daesh and for that reason if no other we should use it as well, and yes I don't care what they are called...any Islamist...I just look forward to the day when they are referred to only in the past tense as something which should never thrive on the Earth ever again.

I usually cut to the chase when sparring with the leftists who parrot what the imbecile~in~chief says: "There's no such thing as "ISIL". It stops them dead in their tracks as though I'm claiming that there's no such thing as ice cream. I follow it up by pointing out that no one except the Ă˜bongo Crime Syndicate refers to Islamofacist terrorists as "ISIL" - not even the press.
