Keystone fails by one ........
« on: November 18, 2014, 07:14:28 PM »
Okay.  Another vote coming up in January then.

Quote
It was appropriate that Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), author of the Democrats’ “you didn’t build that” line against entrepreneurs, presided over and announced that the vote to authorize construction of the Keystone XL pipeline had failed. Senator You Didn’t Build That got to announce that You Can’t Build That. Because hard left Democrats say so.

Sen. Mary Landrieu’s (D-LA) attempt to show her clout in the Senate to Louisiana voters who are prepared to fire her next month failed. The Democrat-controlled Senate voted against the Keystone by a single vote. The measure needed 60 votes, and it only mustered 59.

The votes should tell America a few things. The Democrats now regard the United States Senate itself as nothing more than an ornament. The vote, blocked by the Democrats for ages, was only allowed to give Landrieu a lifeline in her recall election. The measure’s failure says that Landrieu’s fellow Democrats do not believe that she can defeat Republican Rep. Bill Cassidy in the run-off. If they thought that she could win, they would have released one more senator to vote with her.

The failure prevents President Obama from having to make good on his veto threat and stand exposed for the radical that he truly is. He still has two years in office; Landrieu’s days have been numbered far less. The Democrats in the Senate chose to protect Obama, even after all the damage he has done to their party and the country.

The Keystone pipeline would create thousands of jobs, create stronger ties to our ally Canada, and would transport needed oil more cleanly than it is currently transported. The fact that it failed demonstrates clearly that the Democratic Party from the president down care far more about the radical environmentalists like billionaire and party bankroller Tom Steyer than they care about American jobs and our national energy security.

As we're fond of saying around here, what can't continue won't continue -- and the agenda of the Democrats simply can't continue in the long term.  The Democrat party has assembled a hodgepodge of client groups who aren't always on the same page, and in fact are really at odds with each other.  In this case the party showed that it has thrown in with radical environmentalists, at the expense of the labor unions.  They demonstrate the same with their promises of destroying the coal industry.

Organized labor used to be the bedrock of the Democrat party.  Perhaps they haven't yet read the memo, but they aren't the Democrat party anymore.  The new Democrat party is a doctrinaire pseudo-marxist party of radicals.  The labor unions are too much like icky industry, so they're being cast aside, along with all the blue collar white Democrat voters.

I think this speaks to the demise of industrial unions, Glock.
Public service unions are growing in power and closely align with the Dems leftist agenda.

They don't have to cater to the blue collar working man any more

I think that is largely true AP, as with all progs, if their lips are moving they are lying their asses off, you have to see what they actually do.  And what they've done is pay lips service to industrial unions while they've shut them down (coal) or downsize the workforce and rebalance the economics of labor by force (auto unions)...the public employee unions and service unions are where their campaigns are being funded and that is whose asses they kiss now.

And any industry funding Dem's deserves to die, they lay in that bed, they can contract plague-carrying lice for all I care, screw 'em, they pick them over the people, fine, eat sh*t and die!

To Hell with Landrieu and all the Dem's, the socialist non-injun Warren is doing more to fracture America and separate the Dem's from vast sections of the country, I say let the retard run free, I hope the Dem's elevate her stature and she single-handedly destroys what is left of the Democrat Party, well, whatever Obama hasn't utterely demolished yet anyway.

We are now where The Founders were when they faced despotism.

She really did get crapped on by her entire party, didn't she.

Let that be a lesson to all Democrat trash out there.  You are never more than a few minutes away from getting the full Juanita Broaddrick treatment, from those you trust most.

Haven't heard much lately from the likes of Dick Trumka or Andy Stern, have we?
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

You are right, and I'm reminded of that article in the Slimes a few years ago about how the Democrats effectively decided to jettison their blue collar white voter base.  Evidently the Democrats view them like the Republicans view their conservative base.
