As Boston Museum of Fine Arts Conservator Pam Hatchfield chiseled away for hours to free the box, five silver cons spilled from the stone block — measures of good luck tossed in when the capsule was entombed by the revolutionary heroes 219 years ago, officials told the Boston Globe.

Well, that certainly didn't work as planned.

Still neat, though.

It would be nice if our contemporary rulers could locate a clue in there.

  • I refuse to accept my civil servants as my rulers
I'm fantasizing that there is some kind of super-prescient rebuke of our current government.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

They already wrote one of those. It's currently kept under nitrogen-filled glass and our current crop of traitors all swore oaths to uphold and defend it.

I think you'll find a large deposit of fecal matter on top of it now, and the DNA would match the POS at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue!   ::pullhair::
