OK, so I turned their happy little phrase at the end of the article around a little...I think the point speaks for itself.

Shipping containers a bad idea for housing Detroitians?  Of course not, they should be better at stopping bullets and firebombs better than wood and sheetrock, but I didn't see either mentioned in the article.  Nor did I see anything mentioned about the social and economic distress caused by unchecked decades of progressive democrat political control.  Nor did there seem to be any particular concern over the displaced from these condemned homes to provide areas for these poor millennials to deposit their canned homes upon, which is kinda ironic.  They pooh pooh the environmental stuff as elitist which is also kinda funny, but in a twisted way such benefits seem specious as always, so more irony.  And they acknowledge they don't know how to price these nor know what to expect the government will request in property taxes or how/when stuff like utilities will be hooked up...let alone if these poor millennials will be able to pay whatever it might be or if they just turn into entitled little squatters wanting everything subsidized and laws ignored...all of it indicating what a left-wing hair-brained poorly-thought out joke this is.

But this is Detroit, this is what they do.  They circle the drain, it's all they do and they do it well!

This is what progressives intend for everyone: living in a gerbil cage crammed in with the barnyard of humanity.  Today, it's shipping containers and overpriced cupboards that make hipsters feel superior.

Tomorrow it's their real goal, a permanent residence of approximately 8x3 at a depth of 6 feet.

True.  Hopefully we're chasing them down and killing them before they can execute their final solution.   ::praying::

Was watching something a few months ago regarding shipping containers being converted so to speak to living quarters but the company was using two containers for the home. Basically, the containers became the framing of the new house. Worked out and the home looked decent enough. This was all done in FL. The project was naturally slated for low income housing but owned instead of rentals.

Of course real or imagined future housing such as the one's in the movie "The Fifth Element" could be a sick thought and I wouldn't put it past the progfart left in any event. If they're thinking about saving space for large population it's all for not as the up and coming civil war will be nothing short of catastrophic in terms of casualties most of will be from the idiotic left and their never thinking horde. ::rockets::

The last thing Detroit needs is newly built homes.   There are so many existing  empty homes that should and could be rehabbed and reused before you even consider new construction.    There is way too much supply already,  which leads to more abandonment.

This is of course true and it makes for a nice industry for remodeling. Down part is location Rich and you're aware of that as a serious issue. Perhaps if Detroit had a need for a workforce some of the garbage can be shipped out(to where haven't a clue).

Those uppity Negros that spent their entire life on the dole will naturally object to being pushed back into the hell from which they made but before any of it can start, the DemonRat city regime will have to be shipped to prison where they belong.

Never happen, the ghetto clan won't stand for re gentrification especially if white folk are involved.  Nuke it.
