American Horror Story (TV Series)
« on: March 09, 2015, 01:00:24 PM »
Mrs. IDP and I have just finished watching season 1 of "American Horror Story" on Netflix. The subtitle is "Murder House". A family of three relocates to an old mansion in order to get a fresh start after infidelity, only to learn that the previous owners of the home were murdered in it.

If you're a fan of creepout horror (as opposed to tiresome hack-n-slash), I highly recommend this show. We'll definitely be checking out season 2.

I found it to be intelligently written, well-acted, and plenty of super-creep horror. Jessica Lange deserved the Emmys she won. The rest of the cast was excellent as well. Seeing a horror story played out over an entire 12-episode season of television is entirely new.

Apparently, the premise of the series takes the same core actors, and places them into completely different roles unrelated to the prior season, and into a completely different story. Same actors, new roles, new story unrelated to previous season - seems like a novel concept. So we have that to look forward to in season 2.

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

I seem to remember reading somewhere that this show has a certain "Glee" bent to it. True?
In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.

I don't know what that means... I never watched "Glee" and don't know anything about it.

ETA: I looked up "Glee" on wiki, and I don't see any similarities as far as I can tell.
