What can you say about this?

The idiot lied about the story when it originally happened and he's been lying about it for the last eleven years or so.

Williams had two and only two options when this hit the fan:

1) Come completely clean, tell the truth...that he lied about it from the start and embellished it even more over the years or,

2) Offer a combo phony "fake but accurate" claim coupled with a HRC "can't remember anything" defense.

Telling the truth is out because that instantly torpedoes his career. Going with option 2 will either buy him a few more days or (since this is NBC we are talking about) offer a fig leaf to hide behind until it blows over.

If he had the worst ratings on tv AND was close to retirement he would get the Dan Rather treatment almost automatically. If he was the sort of person who made a hobby out of antagonizing and irritating everyone within sight and sound of his voice he would get the Olbermann treatment.

He is neither and this is NBC so my bet is that he is safe. Disgraced forever but safe from termination.

EDIT:

Link to Breitbart story of Willaims' original news report of the incident

The video report is, at best, deceptive and gives the impression that Williams was very close to the action where a CH47 was hit with a rocket. He wasn't close and gives no indication that he wasn't anywhere near the chopper...not physically near or chronologically near. So, this is a lie by omission where you are led to believe something happened because key information is purposefully left out. This news report is a big nothing burger but the producers edited the story to make it look much more consequential than it was so they didn't come away with a big zero. Williams participated in the fake but accurate story and then let his imagination run wild with it in the next decade or so.

If the Left only knew in 2004 what it knows now, Dan Rather would still be a beloved icon without bus-treads on his face.

They learned from their mistake with Dan Rather. Now they understand that Leftists who lie for the greater Leftist good need not be put to pasture. They merely need to circle the wagons, prepare and disseminate talking points for the period of time bwteen the discovery of the lie and the end of the public's attention span.

Just look at the list of things the Left has gotten away with since Dan Rather, with little to no consequence. The Obama regime has tested my theory dozens of times, not to mention other Leftists in and out of politics.

Edited for lack of coherence, lol; IDP.

The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

What the headline should be is not that Williams lied, but

"What else has Williams lied about?"  as directly relates to the NBC coverage of the entire obama story.

If a news organization will allow one unsubstantiated story, what else will they condone?

Today's question is whether or not Williams lied about what he claims to have seen in New Orleans during Katrina...he has told a story of seeing a body floating past his hotel in the French Quarter despite no reports of flooding in that area. Go figure.

That's because that story is better than saying he was killing time by shagging a transvestite hooker and doing blow while waiting for the script to come down from The Old Gray Hag blaming Bush for everything...

Jeez Trap, this thing is really starting to get hilarious!  It's fun when libiots feast on their own!

Old Gray Witch - Williams digs hole deeper

Pilot-all that hit us was "dust"

Saved a puppy from a burning building?  Rosie O'Dumbass compares Williams to Lance Armstrong

Tom Brokaw - fire him

And the aforementioned dead bodies being questioned

Now, if only they'd be equally fair about vetting Obama!

Yeah, right!  When

I'm telling ya right now, Brian Williams isn't going anywhere. NBC knows they can weather the storm. By keeping him, they will ensconce once and for all out in the open that media is not accountable to the truth, and that's really what they need in order to continue down the path they're on.

But where exactly was Brian Williams in New Orleans during Katrina? Was he hanging out in a five star French Quarter hotel watching face down bodies float past? (Something that only he could see) Or, did he spend the entire week in a rental car which was the claim he made in this Tulane University commencement speech? Did he save any puppies while he was in New Orleans? Were the puppies fired on by RPG wielding Afghani farmers?

We may never know.

And yeah, any organization that tolerates a true American scumbag such as Al Sharpton on its payroll will have no trouble with a serial liar and fabulist.

Hillariously, Williams has been booked to appear on Letterman's show next week since way before this situation barfed its way onto the front pages. But it's okay because Letterman once said, upon hearing of Williams' now infamous RPG heroism, that he had a new respect for him.

BONUS: That fateful day in 2011 when Brian Williams singlehandedly fended off a pesky studio fire alarm. Some would have freaked out but when you have literally looked down the barrel of an RPG you are cool under pressure, man...cool.

Probably on top of the Super Dome with Chris Kyle helping him shoot some of those 30 people Kyle shot

And remember...they are ALL guilty of this!!!

There is no way, though, that a network that gives Al Sharpton his own show will ever replace Williams for this. Sharpton is literally a criminal and he's just fine with the execs at NBC. Williams will survive this. They have no shame.

Yup, expecting them to behave with honesty, integrity and decency is just stupid on our part, we cannot project our values onto them and expect the same results...it has not nor will never work...all we can do is expect them to behave dishonestly and deviously...and light them up for being POS's.  It's one way to pass the time...

See, the presstitutes who view themselves as having only an image problem not an institutional problem are split on what to do...get rid of the image by gassing Williams or repair the image and keep him.  Poor libiot bastards...tee hee, fun to see them squirm, isn't it?!

I think he's gone.  Not that leftist frauds have any problem with fraud among their ranks.  But because he's officially become a meme for fraud.

Plus, ratings are instantly down by a third.  An affirmative action show on MSNBC, to play for a couple hundred thousand of the dumbest people in existence is one thing.  Losing a third of your audience with your bread and butter is a whole 'nother matter.
