All humanitarian types should be made to watch the 2008 movie Rambo. The entire point of the film was to drive home the truth that if something goes wrong in a 3rd world sh*thole while you're there doing God's work, you're either dead, or someone else will be risking their life to get you out. Those are the only 2 options.

This level of naivete is usually equal parts natural, bred and taught...they'd be much much more likely to protest outside a theater showing Rambo than going in to watch it...let alone learn anything from it...

How many Westerners have had their heads chopped off and broadcast around the world?

What level of self-delusion is required to think a) that is an abberation and b) this could never happen to me because I am such a swell, loving and compassion person?

Predators are predators and prey is prey...



Pretending something isn't what it is will get you eaten!

You need more and better and stronger predators to eliminate an invasive alien non-human species...we need to stop sending fluffy bunnies and start sending stone cold killers after this ilk.

It doesn't help that these "humanitarian" organizations prey on these naive people either.  Save the world they proclaim!  And these people come from around the country,  mostly from communities that are generally comfortable and safe.   These volunteers  have no idea about how most of the world "works".   Nothing is ever said about the organizations that puts people in very stupid and dangerous situations. 

How stupid is it,  that we send a single female to a place where women are second class and treated like animals.   May she rest in peace,  but she had absolutely no business being there in the first place.   There was nothing she could have done that would have changed anything there.   

Outside of the political points scored by the people and organizations who sent her to her death.   She was a pawn and she didn't know it.   

Our society seems to breed this type of naivety.   Everyone expects a 15 year old to be naive.   But now we have large numbers of people in their 30's that are just as naive.

There will always be a place for missionaries, so I'm not knocking the practice in general.

But aside from that, there is a liberal First-World mentality that turns the concept of humanitarian aid into willful ignorance and naive affinities.

It's OK to think "we're all brothers and sisters connected by our common humanity" when you're a World Studies major at Berkeley. But try taking that sentiment to the ISIS sh*thole and see how far it gets you.
