New way for Fed govt to save $3 billion
« on: May 03, 2011, 12:33:19 PM »
I read where Pakistan is asking for $3 billion from the USA government.  Since it looks like they did nothing except hide bin Laden I say its time to tell Pakistan that they are on their own, keep the cash, and start thinking about not handing out other tax dollars to foriegners

Hey, what a novel concept! Don't confiscate our earned income to give to corrupt foreign governments who use it to harbor our enemies!

Now if we can just implant that voice of complete sanity in the minds of DC politicians, we might be onto something fingerroll!
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

That makes too much sense which pretty much guarantees the politicians won't be able to see their way to it.

And speaking of India, the now obvious connections between Al-Qaeda and the Pakistani government/military/ISI rather puts the terror attacks in Mumbai in a whole new light. It was known there was a likely Pakistani connection, but now their association with militant Islam is even more starkly apparent.

To be such a "Great Satan" we sure do end up siding with the 'slims every time they're in conflict with a non-Muzz nation. We sided with the Albanian Muslims against the Christian Serbs, shun democratic Hindi/Buddhist/Sikh India in favor of Muslim Pakistan. It's frustrating to the extreme.

Yeah, maybe that return favor for hiding OBL was assistance in blowing up some Indians.

We could be in a position to exert a lot of heat on the Pak's by threatening to cut them loose and support India 100% in that region.

The idea of helping India in her contest with the Paki's is really appealing to me!

The issue with POK-EE-STAWN is a little more complex than we would like.

We have to treat them carefully, because they are one of the nuclear powers. So far, even tho' they may have protected OBL, that is a small price to pay in order for them NOT to give Al Queda (or any other terrorist such as taliban) access to any of their nukes.

Now, when you compare all the options, hiding OBL from us was not that turribel.

Being a sick bastard I have to believe that here is more to this than meets the eye. I'm startingto think that there is someting going on that we don't know about with Pakistaaan. Now the reports are that OBL was taken to a hanhar in Pakistaaaan and then flown out to the ship.

How does that mke any sense that they didn't know about it and yet had a hangar waiting? Why is it that I get the feeling that we were sold OBL?by somebody inside the Paki government?? Has this guy been held just in case they needed something from us or wanted to stop an action by us?

I never bought into the argument that one cannot play tough with nuclear foes, not with the Soviets, not with anybody, take too many cards off the table and it reeks of fear.  I think if the Paki's truly did hide this bastard from us, it gives us enormous leverage to extract more concrete cooperation from them.  Could the Paki's have sold the bastard out to us and then make it look like they didn't just to save face with their tribal crazies?  Sure, but we may never know for sure, that info is way out of our purview.  But the fact remains he was there, and possible for six years, and before that likely in the mountainous tribal region.

The question remains and we may never really know - how can we trust the Paki's?  I'd suggest not a whole lot, but we should press them as hard as we can.  They can flagilate and spout PR BS all they want as long as they work with us in secret, or we need to cut them loose and find a new partner.  If the latter India sure looks inviting, and playing the two regional rivals off of each other should be a no-brainer.

Trust Pakistaaaaan as a whole NEVER!!!You MIGHT be able to trust some one here and there but as a whole OH HELL NO!It's a relationship based on a bribe and all that says to me is that if someone is willing to pay more they will go for it.

I think that the possibility of their nukes falling into the wrong hands is a gamble that may have a risk ratio that is too high, to take lightly and think that all we have to do is exercise a little muscle. We have been able to keep the balance now for over 10 years or so, and not pushing them to hand over OBL may have been the key to keeping this balance.

Unless we have a plan to 'capture' and take control over their nukes ourselves, we have to keep this balance. Just my opinion of course.

I have stated before that we need to know exactly where each and every one of these weapons are located and have plans to seize/neutralize them in case this country slides into a full Islamic state.  And if it is not an active plan right now it sure as hell ought to be!  This country is unstable as hell, and remember this is the same outfit that gave us A.Q. Kahn.  I think it is merely a question of when, not if, Pakistan loses its sanity.  We damn well better have a plan.  The other half of that plan is finding a counter-balance in the region, India is the best bet, it sure as hell isn't going to be Iran!  Otherwise you mights as well write off the whole region and walk away.

New foriegn policy regarding these countries should read as follows:  We have many nukes, you have a few, if any.  If anyone uses a nuke on us we will find out who, it may take time but we will find out, and we will retaliate with as much force as necessary to incinerate every living soul in your country.  Along with that we will nuke any country that we find out assisted or aided, or simply knew and did not inform us of the attack from the first country that nuked us with the same retliatory strike.

We will not give you any more money to help us find people like UBL, since pakistan stalled and didnt tell us he was in the compound, since if we found him we would not need to pay them anymore, instead, we will pay you after you turn himover to us.

The proportions of different isotopes are effectively a fingerprint as to who produced the warhead, so if the Pakis diverted one of theirs into some other party's hands, it would not take very long to trace it back to them. Plus, I figure there is some risk of them diverting nuclear weapons or technology even if we continue playing the charade of them being some stalwart ally. The official position of their government could even be genuinely friendly to us (it's not, but let's pretend it is) and there would still be risk, just because so much of their population is radicalized and in favor of jihad.

I don't think we should let them twist our arm just because of this. And I agree with the previous comments about having a contingency plan to secure these weapons. Remember when there was an insurgency in the borderland and we had to put the screws to Pakistan to deal with it? The subject came up then of what to do if it appeared the Pakistan government was at risk of being overthrown.
