I got lucky!!
« on: June 08, 2015, 06:37:43 PM »
One of the guys at work decided he wanted to sell the Taurus PT 22 he bought 2 years ago and never shot a full magazine through it. He did shoot one round and that was it. He sold me the pistol and a brick(550 rounds) and two 100 round plastic boxes of CCI mini mags for a grand total of 100.dollars.

I thought you were going to talk about you and Mrs. Florida!

Wow, that is almost better than sex.

Congrats, John

Lucky dog. Heck, the ammo is worth almost that much.

Sounds like a good deal.....too bad you lost it in a boating accident.

Good score!  I still can't believe the scarcity of .22 ammo.  We just had a Cabela's open here a month ago, and even there they've only got a small section of 50 round boxes.

I remember when you could get bricks of .22 for what, $12 or something?

Yeah, those days are gone my friend.  If I stake out the local Gander on Friday mornings sometimes you can score a brick, but it will be 3-4 x's that price.

Last time I was in the local Cabelas in Rogers 3-4 weeks ago getting some fishing stuff I saw they had a pretty good supply of ammo on hand, and I did pick up one of those not-quite-a-full-brick packs of CCI, can't recall what I paid for it, didn't care...it's like an auto reflex, I just take one.

And then the boating accident...

The ones I wish I could find again are the Aguila Colibri.  Those are the .22 rounds that have no gunpowder, they use just the primer to propel a light bullet.  They make almost no sound, and are fun to use in situations where you don't want people complaining about noise.

No, just cans and paper targets.  I'd say it's not any more powerful than an air rifle, maybe less.  It puts holes in aluminum cans though.  Fun to use.

I reckon they are out of stock because many must be having the same fun you are Glock!

The box warns you to use only in handguns, because they might be too underpowered to make it through a rifle barrel.  I shoot them in a Henry lever action rifle without any problems though.  They're very quiet out of that rifle, you could probably snap your fingers louder.  I like using them when I get the urge for ballistic entertainment but am too lazy to go to the range.
