Yeah, the militant atheists keep attacking Christianity, as if it's still 1920s existentialist avant-garde to do so. Stand up comedians still think they're being edgy and transgressive when they ridicule Christians, when all they're really doing is highlighting what cowards they are. They want to strike the pose of radical chic, but take on none of the risk. If one wanted to be truly transgressive in American culture, they would heap even a small fraction of that derision upon Islam.
But the followers of Islam will, you know, chop your head off for insulting their pedophile prophet. So they get the kid glove treatment. Meanwhile the would-be radicals delude themselves by saying Muslims are a marginalized population and the victims of Western cultural imperialism and that's why they get a pass. The real explanation -- that they get a pass because the would-be radicals fear retaliation -- is unacceptable because that would be an admission that they're poseur phonies.
