Another one kicks off oddly at same age and time as Bowie.
RIP Alan, we'll miss your stage presence.

Cancer.

69 again...is the rule of 3's going to be in play again?

That is a pretty good graphic MNHawk, very clever.

And are people aware of the generally accepted breakpoint of 70?

People who go out over 70...their passing can be sad and too soon...but people passing below 70 and the tragic meter is tripped.  Always made me think anybody near that mark is a bit unfortunate either way under such an inflexible understanding.  Obviously the younger the more tragic, but I don't like being told what the "norm" is.

I guess for me I don't consider it a good run so much on years as what you got to do in the years you had...but in general numerical terms you make it to 80 and I think you should have had a good run and every day after that is a bonus.

Hopefully Alan made good use of his years.

We are now where The Founders were when they faced despotism.

I read somehwere yesterday that the Die Hard role was his first feature film.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

- Thomas Jefferson
