Lawrence Welk?

Draws a blank for me, but I bet my parents know exactly who she is.  I was probably watching Andy Griffith, Green Acres, Get Smart or My Three Sons with my brother!  Or cartoons.

And of course enjoying lunch with Casey!

Sorry for the sidetrack, why I felt compelled to date myself I don't know...

Under her maiden name of Norma Larson, and later under her married name, Norma Zimmer was a top background singer in the Hollywood studios for more than a decade before joining the Lawrence Welk show as "Champagne Lady" in 1960. As a background vocalist, she worked on several sessions for, among others, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Dale Evans, and Gordon Jenkins.

(November 2004)... As a performer, she continues to perform with the Lawrence Welk Orchestra and other former regulars from the Welk show at the Lawrence Welk Champagne Theater in Branson, Mo.

Zimmer, born in July 1923 in Larson, Idaho, grew up in Seattle. The petite blonde sang with The Girlfriends, a quartet that performed with Sinatra, Dean Martin and Bing Crosby, including on Crosby's famed recording of "White Christmas."

Zimmer made several film and TV appearances, including one with Crosby in the 1950 film "Mr. Music" and in an episode of "I Love Lucy," and was the voice of the White Rose in the 1951 Disney film, "Alice in Wonderland."

A skilled professional she transitioned from one area of the industry to another and kept working until, long past retirement age, she chose to quit.

Kudos and much respect.
