[blockquote]
Quote
I had never before met an educated person who was so determined to make reference to how educated he was.

Then, Gingrich said something unusual for a self-proclaimed educator-historian-PhD. The thinker who meant the most to him, he declared, was Alvin Toffler, author of the 1970 pop bestseller "Future Shock."

Not Aristotle; not Plato; not Edward Gibbon, the greatest historian in the English language; not Shakespeare or Tolstoy or John Locke. Alvin Toffler.

Newt Gingrich has a restless and outsized intelligence that is tragically unleavened by any kind of critical sensibility.
[/blockquote]

This is too good not to read.

Also, gNewt, for those not involved at the time, was always referring to the Tofflers and some other pop book as guide posts for us to the future.  It was like, WTF?

Poor newt.....So many opportunities to use his talents to defeat liberals....But he chooses the path of ruin. Shame.

I've been reading the Huckabee thread at Ace's, and he's apparently announced that he's not running.  Whew!  We dodged a bullet there.
We are so far past and beyond the “long train of abuses and usurpations” that the Colonists and Founders experienced and which necessitated the Revolutionary War that they aren’t even visible in the rear-view mirror.

Wow, over 1 1/2 hours between comments here on a Saturday night.  Everyone else must have a more active social life than I do, or else there must be something good on TV.

Nope you're not alone I was just watching a movie with the wife and going over what's left to do before out trip next Friday.

Huck not running isn't any big deal. Just another distraction we don't have to deal with.

In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.

This, and him, we don't need:

Gingrich Slams Rep. Paul Ryan’s “Radical” Plan to Reform Medicare

Quote
“I don’t think right-wing social engineering is any more desirable than left-wing social engineering… I don’t think imposing radical change from the right or the left is a very good way for a free society to operate.”

He also restated his belief in the individual mandate in Obamacare.  (Vid at link.)

So, according to him, "radical" in the context of Ryan's plan for Medicare is bad because it's "right-wing social engineering", but he gives no hint that without a reform along the order of Ryan's idea, "radical" will be an abrupt end to Medicare altogether.

This guy is another of Sowell's "Anointed" with his unconstrained vision of his type of social engineering.

I began disliking him when he started pushing electronic medical records (part of Hillarycare) via Federal mandates, believing instant widespread access to everybody's personal medical history by medical practitioners as one panacea for what ails "healthcare" today, without ever acknowledging the GIGO principle.

I have to concur!

Frankly, I hope he fades quickly, I don't need to hear him pontificate about the "art of the possible" more than once and experience a desire to beat him senseless!
We are now where The Founders were when they faced despotism.
