Ditto on the needed primary-ing and "this country has record low levels of workforce participation among working age adults", but there is a problem with too many of the out-of work -- they don't want to work and they don't have to thanks to our "safety net".
Companies offering lowER-skilled jobs are going begging while requiring only three things: 1) pass the drug test; 2) show up every day; 3) show up on time, and if one does these three things, they'll train up on-the-job. No, the money isn't great at first, but those that stick it out will often be offered medical insurance and the prospect of more money.
I hate pointing this out, but there it is, in my opinion. Fixing this will require keeping the imported workers out and severely restricting the safety net entry for the adult able-bodied males of working age.
