And Comey goes on to repeat earlier statements of no evidence of Trump or anybody on his team cooperating with any Russian agents to influence our election, which of course there isn't because neither occurred, though asshats on both sides of the aisle (or is it just all one side?) bloviate about the rascally Putin...
But Comey punted on questions of Obama's involvement, and Nunes appears to be setting the script Comey wanted -
“Let me be clear,” he said. “We know there was not a wiretap on Trump Tower. However, it’s still possible that other surveillance activities were used against President Trump and his associates.”
Rep Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) suggested that the leaks were political, stressing that the intelligence community and law enforcement community would not have been helped by the release of such information. He asked Comey if the intelligence community had shared such information with former Attorney General Loretta Lynch, or Obama.
Comey would not comment on his conversations with Obama.
Comey did confirm that the NSA, CIA, FBI, main Justice Department and others – including personnel in the White House in some situations – could have access to unmasked names of U.S. persons.
But he stressed that only the collecting agency can unmask the identities of people. Others with whom the information is shared “can ask the collectors to unmask,” he said – but can’t do it on their own.
This last part is hilarious double-speak! First, won't comment on Obama's involvement, he's just running with the script that there is no evidence showing they did any wiretapping...but that wiretapping could have been done by shadowy others...but that identities of people caught up in data nets can come up and cross their desks, though of course in this instance we are assured that didn't happen...
Yet...
We already know the anonymous rock-solid source the NYT's had said the Obama Admin was provided wiretapped communications .
So, either way you cut it...the IC and Obama and his people are LYING!!!
Somebody did it, somebody shared it and now everybody is lying about it to cover their worthless treasonous ass!!!

It appears that Russia fell for the same ruse that much of America, not to mention its press and punditry, was taken by, at least according to the FBI director: believing US polls.
During his hearing before the House Intel Panel, FBI Director James Comey said that the Russians expected Hillary Clinton to win the presidency over Donald Trump as of August and September.
“Late in the summer they concluded based on the polling that a lot of people were reading that Mr. Trump didn’t stand a chance,” said Comey, although it was not clear just how the FBI knew what the Russians "concluded" as of last summer.
The FBI director's extrapolations then continued: “let’s just focus on undermining her,” Comey says of Russian thinking at the time, which however was also confusing as earlier in his testimony Comey said "we saw no efforts aimed at the vote itself."
Comey was then pressed on whether it was "too far of a logical leap to conclude that the assertion that you have told the Congress that there was no influence on the electoral process is not quite right" to which Comey responded "It certainly wasn't our intention to say that today."
"Because we don't have any information on that subject. That's not something that was looked at."
Comey then again seemed to contradict himself when he said that "we saw efforts to penetrate the voter registration databases."
Five hours after its start, the hearing continues, with numerous extrapolations, with no actual facts presented, as the heads of the FBI and NSA redefine "conspiracy theory."

Spicer is right, people forget the Dem's refused on multiple occasions to allow FBI to investigate, which always struck me as odd, if there was any national security angle to it at all why they even needed permission...but that aside, I think the obvious is quite obvious - the DNC and Comey are on the same side.

Yeah, this is true...
The entire case that Democrats make that ‘Russia stole the election from Hillary’ is based on the premise that Russia supplied Podesta’s emails to WikiLeaks which then somehow led to Hillary’s defeat.
Anyone who was halfway interested in the election in the fall of 2016 knows that this is a big lie in so many ways, but specifically because the MSM totally ignored WikiLeak’s dump of Podesta emails before the election.
The MSM did not share Podesta’s emails before the election and now the head of the FBI just announced that the Russians did not give these emails to WikiLeaks.
This confirms what WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange said in November – that his group did not get emails related to Hillary Clinton’s campaign from a “state actor.”
