Powers Boothe, 68

Apparently he died a couple weeks ago. I don't know if I just missed this, or if the media decided not to take notice, but this guy is one of my favorite character actors, ever since he starred in "Southern Comfort" (somewhat derivative of "Deliverance") when I was a teenager. I loved that movie partly because of the awesome soundtrack by Ry Cooder and other authentic Zydeco music that really set the tone for the movie set in the Louisiana Bajou. Since Boothe starred in it and it made such an impression on me, he's always been on my radar. His performances in "Frailty" against Matthew McConaughy and his performance as Senator Rourke in "Sin City" were among my favorites.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

I didn't see it posted any earlier either.  Freaky, I just watched Sin City last night.  He was the Eagle pilot in the original Red Dawn too.

Ry Cooder  ::thumbsup::

The Cajun scene...bloody mahem while all that pluckin' n' stompin' going on.  Best part of the movie apart from the tunes.
Irrumabo!  GOP? - Nope. No more. They made their bed, now let them die in it.*
