Portable solar to augment portable gas generators?
« on: September 17, 2017, 11:38:33 AM »
Is there anything decent out there in the portable solar world worth chasing after as far as reducing load on gas generators...use for recharging batteries, small electronics, computers etc?

That would result in less draw for a gas generator...make the gas last a bit longer...

Thoughts?

As for saving gas the generator has to turn at 3200 rpm wether it's powering a freezer or an alarm clock. The only time for solar is if you don't want to run the generator at all.

Right, which was my thought...not running a generator for small stuff like that.

I'm just not sure what portable solar options are best.  There is the DIY way too, just get the parts and put them together...might be cheaper.

Gunsmith built us a solar powered aerator, on a timer, for our couple-three acre pond.  I'm quite sure his design could scale up some.
