Nothing going on...Middle East all quiet...domestic politics boring and uneventful...government spending under control...

But OMG, New Yorkers are rude!  Wow, hold the front page!!!

Me and Gunsmith's all-purpose chant, "make a law, make a law".  It's sarcasm, of course.

So.  Whaddaya want?  It's New York City; they think they're the center of the world.

Should we focus on their narcissism, or should I explain how pissed off grocery store aisle meanderers leave me?  How about the ones that leave their carts in the middle of the aisle and wander off?

How about the other day, the guy who got so enraged that I pulled out of a store parking lot in front of his speeding ass too close for his convenience who tail-gated me around the turn, cut around and in front of me before roaring off?  At which I engaged the V-8 and returned the favor until he slammed on his brakes; then he pulled into the left lane at the stoplight, waited for me to pull even and proceeded to call me an f'n bitch, you don't f'n tailgate ME you f'n bitch.

I made sure the doors were locked, hit the up-window button and kept eyes front.  Because I carry.  Otherwise, there would have been further .... exchange.

This is life everywhere, where ya got the aware and the oblivions.

If planning and opportunity coincide you can emotionally and physically jockey them into a position for intense passing, at the proper moment you break it down and leave them head on into a (figurative) wall.  This works best on a multi-lane road or highway.

It's most fun when they are eating or especially drinking hot coffee.

Been there, done that, Charles.  It's lost it's edge.

Right now, I want to be left alone to make my way around without harassment because the sound of that V-8 activated is the sound of me potentially losing my license.  Dual-exhaust, I might add.

Carrying is the additional fillip of "do not engage".

You know what is said of old men?  Don't piss 'em off, if they're too tired to fight, they'll just kill ya?  Goes twice for old women.  (Is 57 old?  Some days ......)

Heh, I don't put up with much guff from jerks either.  There are ways to get someone's attention without touching them, helped induce  one such jerk into a ditch for dicking with me...they went in all on their own...I never touched 'em...

PS-I did check on their "condition", told the a-hole don't f**k with me again, and neither this idiot, the law or any insurance company had squat on me.   ;D

PPS- Oh, and you ain't old Pan, you just seasoned just right!   ;)

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

I know, right?!

I did say to Gunsmith, "gee, I wonder what that jerk's reaction would have been if I'd held up the .38 to the window?"

PPS - Ah, Libertas, that was sweet, thank you.  8)

Funny you should ask. There is a well known state lobbyist in North Carolina who gave me one of my first jobs when I was a yoot. He was the sales manager at the local Chevy Dealership. Anywho, he left town to take a job in the Republican Administration during the Jim Holshouser years (1973-77). He became involved in NC politics, once being examined closely for loaning the NC Speaker of the House half a mil. Okay, I'm boring y'all. I'll get to the point.

Near the end of his career, he is parked at a convenience store parking lot. When he begins to leave, some guy pulls out in front of him. "Don" blows the horn at the jerk and he slams on the brakes, gets out of his car, slams his door and advances toward "Don's" vehicle in a menacing manner. Well, ole Don was packing heat in the form of a .38 placed within reach on the seat beside him. When the jerk came up to "Don's" window, Don simply pointed at the gun. Follow me on this, kiddies. He did not touch the gun, the gun was not concealed. He simply pointed to the peacemaker sitting on the seat beside him. Well, OMG, you woulda thought ole Don pulled a Dirty Harry on the little jerko and pulled the trigger. The guy goes to the cops and complains that "Don" assaulted him. By pointing to a gun on his seat.

The "incident" was turned over to the local DA who decided not to prosecute. The cops took ole "Don's" gun, though and did not give it back.
The problems we face today are there because the people who work for a living
are outnumbered by those who vote for a living.

Yep.  Exactly the reason I gave it no serious thought at all.

It had been too long since I had had an incident (and I was doing so good, too!).

I'm going through a crowded parking garage. I'm (surprisingly) at the proper speed. I have the clear lane when an SUV comes tearing around the corner, runs the stop sign, and almost hits me. I slam on the brakes and avoid the collision. He doesn't even slow or react in any way - just keeps going.

I have to follow him two more flights down into the garage. Finally he turns off and I shout out to him, "Fvcking Azzhole"!

He immediately slams on the brakes, throws it in reverse and does a huge burn out. Throwing it into gear he chases after me (not much of a chase since I'm not going more than 15mph). I go down two more flights til we get to a level that is almost deserted. As I'm going I slip out the .40 and 2 extra mags and set them beside me on the console.

I scan the scene and locate the prime spot for fight/flight. As I ease into the location he races up next to me and lowers his window. I watch for the glint of steel but all I see is him....looking at me. I don't know what he had in mind but something made him change his attitude because he says, "Dude.....I apologize. I had a brain-fart and I didn't see you."

I just sat there and stared at him silently.

"So, are we cool?"

I nod my head affirmatively.

"This is done?"

Again I nod.

And he drives away.

Had to be the strangest rage encounter I've ever had.

I forget who said it..."An armed society is a polite society!"
And Soup, whatever gave him cause to reconsider, consider it a win.
