Swedish heavy metal group Sabaton - heroic songs

Swedish heavy metal group Sabaton

I just discovered this group. Their songs are often about heroic military battles.
I have the Night Witches song stuck in my head. About Russian WWII women pilots flying WWI biplanes at night to bomb the Germans.

More heavy metal bands per capita in Sweden, than any other country.  Opeth is my band of choice.

Those Scandinavian metal bands can get pretty dark. I saw the "Metal Evolution" serieson VH1 a few years back, and I remember that some of those Scandinavian bands really worship Satan - it's not just Schtick. They burned churches and stuff. The interviewer asks one guy what inspires his music, and he said in a completely serious tone, "Satan."
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

So, that's where the old Viking genes went...

The rest of the area seems to be too sheeplike as they walk up to muzzies hand them a knife and bare their throats...

I'll take a pass on Satan...would be better going back to made-up stuff like Odin than choosing the master of demons...  ::)

Some of these groups look scarier than they are in person. Years ago I discovered Within Temptation.
They are from the Netherlands. The female lead is mother of three, and is pregnant in many of their music videos. They have a concert DVD of a single concert they gave with an orchestra.

I watched that DVD "Black Symphony" way too many times.  The female lead Sharon den Adel is very sweet. I admit to being a little infatuated with her when I first discovered the group.

The concert starts out dark.  She had been out sick for two days then came out for this.
Trailer. If checking out youtube, note that the real Black Symphony video has the full orchestra and choir as in the trailer.

If you are not in love with Sharon den Adel yet watch the next video. A very pregnant Sharon with Armin van Buuren
