'Pharma Bro' sentenced to 7 years in prison
« on: March 09, 2018, 02:33:48 PM »
The judge ruled earlier this week that Shkreli would have to forfeit more than $7.3 million in a brokerage account and personal assets including his one-of-a-kind Wu-Tang Clan album that he boasted he bought for $2 million. The judge said the property would not be seized until Shkreli had a chance to appeal.

15 years...

Unless he's brutally raped every one of those days it seems fairly pedestrian....

But, better than skating free....

His lawyer suggested 18 months to the Judge, Prosecution suggested 15 years, the Judge gave him 7 years.
Didn't read about the forfeitures.
Wonder if they will put him in general population...lol   After 7 years a Butt Plug will be daily wear.

Isn't that the way it's supposed to be instead of the asset forfeiture run by traffic cops?

There are, of course, minimum security prisons.  He's not violent and he's not likely a flight risk.

Even if it's minimum security, it's still no picnic.  I'd just as soon stay out.

Look, he qualifies for a minimum security camp. He won't be subject to any "extra-judicial punishment" because nobody in camp (min. security) wants to get a shot and lose camp status.

That being said, 7 years in the Fed is still not a cake walk. Even with good conduct time and halfway house, he's there for about 5 1/2 years.
The problems we face today are there because the people who work for a living
are outnumbered by those who vote for a living.

He will get time served, which is six months, so his prison time will be 6.5 years, unfortunately, the judge declared him a risk, so he will NOT be eligible for Minimum Security, some of that was based on the psych exam he had undergone.  In addition there is no parole in the Federal Prison System, so
it's 6.5.  He can get a few months reduced for good behavior, but it will just be added to his three year probation.

I respectfully disagree. Bureau of Prisons regs allow 54 days of good conduct time PER YEAR SERVED. Since he can't get credit for time he isn't incarcerated, he will not get the full 54 x 7 years because the total is greater than 365. The six months halfway house is the maximum, and the time spent incarcerated will count against his 7 year total, just as he had been in Fed lockup. Parole has nothing to do with my calculation. The only way your Fed sentence is mitigated is by halfway house and good conduct time. (I filed a habeus corpus petition for an inmate once and won. I know what I'm talking about) But I'm a good sport. If he serves 6.5 years, I'll buy ya a beer!

Yeah. What he said.

Hey guys. The end of 2017 was a challenge. Two hospitalizations and medical retirement. Doing better now. Thanks.

sigh, not going to argue, still, the dude hasn't demonstrated a lot of good sense, seems to lack any governors.  i mean he's been in jail for 6 months
already, and still couldn't keep his mouth shut.  If he does endup doing 6.5, dang I don't drink.
