That being said, 7 years in the Fed is still not a cake walk. Even with good conduct time and halfway house, he's there for about 5 1/2 years.

He will get time served, which is six months, so his prison time will be 6.5 years, unfortunately, the judge declared him a risk, so he will NOT be eligible for Minimum Security, some of that was based on the psych exam he had undergone.  In addition there is no parole in the Federal Prison System, so
it's 6.5.  He can get a few months reduced for good behavior, but it will just be added to his three year probation.

I respectfully disagree. Bureau of Prisons regs allow 54 days of good conduct time PER YEAR SERVED. Since he can't get credit for time he isn't incarcerated, he will not get the full 54 x 7 years because the total is greater than 365. The six months halfway house is the maximum, and the time spent incarcerated will count against his 7 year total, just as he had been in Fed lockup. Parole has nothing to do with my calculation. The only way your Fed sentence is mitigated is by halfway house and good conduct time. (I filed a habeus corpus petition for an inmate once and won. I know what I'm talking about) But I'm a good sport. If he serves 6.5 years, I'll buy ya a beer!

sigh, not going to argue, still, the dude hasn't demonstrated a lot of good sense, seems to lack any governors.  i mean he's been in jail for 6 months
already, and still couldn't keep his mouth shut.  If he does endup doing 6.5, dang I don't drink.
