I am still somewhat stunned by the CNN crew. They actually asked good questions. Particularly about the number of young women who he follows (as opposed to those who follow him) on Twitter. That's a damned good (and obvious) question, an example of one that we have gotten used to the media not asking when a democrat's political life is on the line.
Seriously, I expected CNN to do what they always do...throw him a softball and accept whatever nonsense that he spewed in reply as a reasonable answer or accept it as the answer they were expecting*. Weiner apparently expected that type of treatment, too, and when he didn't get it he was not prepared for it.
So a couple of points about this:
First, Republicans get treated as criminals by the media all the time regardless of the situation or topic and because of that they are better prepared to deal with it. They know in advance that there is an adversarial relationship with the media and they act accordingly. Weiner looks as if he has been cut off at the knees by an ally here and does his best to not look stunned and shocked at the treatment he receives.
Also, I have to wonder just how this happened. It is unreasonable to believe that CNN has turned on a dime and is now an actual journalism/news reporting entity. Someone in authority somewhere is allowing this to happen. Either that or both the reporter and her producer were having a psychotic episode of some kind and will soon be locked in a closet never to be heard from again.
*An example of this occurred in Egypt where a CNN reporter asked "man in the street" questions of several different people, leading questions about how wonderful O'Bama was for supporting the revolution. Without fail, each time a person was asked they instead answered (truthfully) that what happened in Egypt had zero to do with O'Bama and yet the reporter summed up his report by saying the exact opposite...as if he were telling the audience to just ignore what the previous three or four people interviewed actually said and that what they really meant to say was that O'Bama was amazing and made the revolution happen just because he's so wonderful and magical or something.
