Good theory except that in at least one instance (the porn star) there is evidence that he has been following a chick for at least a couple of months.

BTW, everything WeinerGate is on and all over BigJournalism. This link is to Lee Stranahan's piece about, "Would Your Wife Buy It?" Stranahan, if you doin't know, is a lib journalist that Breitbart recruited to work on his Journo site as a sort of experiment. Curiously, Stranahan has found conservative news work to be strangely liberating in comparison to the lockstep march of left wing media.

...According to those who were first to notice this story, a couple of days ago he was following just less than 100 people. That means in the last 24 to 72 hours he has added 100 people to the list that he is following. So you can add that to the list of "draw your own conclusion" stuff that includes not calling the FBI and retaining counsel.

I can draw a conclusion. He got wind the story was going to break, so he quickly "followed" a bunch of young chicks with his Twitter account so this one girl wouldn't stand out in the crowd. "See Huma? Nothing unusual here! There's lots-n-lotsa young attractive girls on Twitter, and anybody can follow anybody, so how can I be responsible for a hacker sending a dick-pic to one anonymous girl among all the other anonymous girls I follow? Please don't call Hillary?"

Thanks. I really hate to draw my own conclusion. I can't stay in the lines.

Yeah, ole Weiner threw up some Tweeter camo to cover his little boney azz.

Journalist's, get your facts straight.

[blockquote]
Quote
[Politico]    New York Rep. Anthony Weiner has retained an attorney to advise him “what civil or criminal actions should be taken” after a lewd picture was sent from his Twitter account.
    Weiner, who has represented part of New York City since 1998, says online hacking led to a close-up shot of a man’s underwear being sent from his official Twitter account Saturday night.
(Get your facts straight, guys: It was Friday night.)
...
Meanwhile, reporters keep getting basic facts of the story wrong. In a scandal timeline at The Atlantic, Ujala Seghal asserts that the notorious photo was Tweeted on Thursday. But in fact the photo-Tweet was sent Friday evening, and was quickly reported — at 12:24 a.m. Saturday – by BigGovernment.com.

When reporters flub such basic facts, it does not inspire confidence in their interpretation of those facts.

HT: The Other McCain[/blockquote]

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Again: If you haven't taken a look at Weiner's boney knees, his wife and voted whether Perp or Victim...shake a leg
http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2011/05/29/2011-05-29_student_who_got_lewd_pic_from_rep_anthony_weiners_twitter_account_denies_shes_hi.html
New York Daily News has a poll: Perp or Victim?  Right now it's 45% victim 42% perp. Every vote counts.
Doing your job correctly is dependent on one vital factor: Do I give a sh*t?
In this case the writers (clearly "reporter" or "journalist" is inappropriate) do not.
We have retained defense council to advise us in how to proceed...
Really
As he still hasn't called the cops, apparently.
Hawk, the DC article says Weanie has "retained counsel." If he had retained "defense counsel" there would be even more to read into the statement.
Yeah, he is blaming everything on Republicans because the GOP Reps don't have a 2011 budget or a plan to save Medicare.
Oh. Wait a minute!
Yeah . He's accusing the Republicans of using this to divert attention from the issues while he's desperately doing the same thing . One could say that he's "pulling a real boner" using this tactic .
One could also say that blaming the GOP is a stretch for Weiner.
Or that with this diversion Weiner is pulling a fast one.
Or that Weiner is pretty hard up to be using this sort of diversion.
I know what most of you are asking.  Just what is this story missing?
Someone (no doubt a concern troll) at the Daily KOS asked an inconvenient question?  Why hasn't the cops been called?   But the KOS kiddies are too smart to be fooled by this Republican plant.  No no no, not the bestest and brightest out there.
In the New York of the late 1800s, Boss Tweed famously complained about Thomas Nast cartoons: Though many immigrants in the city couldn’t read, even the illiterate could understand “those damn pictures.” Rep. Anthony Weiner and his staff now face a similar problem.
The NY Post Article above quotes Da Tech Guy (datechguy.com or sometin'):
Run that though your head for a second and at the same time remember two important facts about Twitter:
1. If two people follow each other on Twitter, they can send private messages unseen by others.
2. The difference between a direct message, seen by only the recipient, and a public tweet, seen by the world, is a single character.
The biggest problem for Weiner and his defenders on the left is not bloggers from the right. It’s the details of “#weinergate” can be understood by millions of ordinary people in 140 characters or less.
This is what I was talking about. Look:
They were following each other on Twitter. Fact.
They probably sent each other Lewisky-like private "tweets." Supposition.
Dumbass Weiner made a mistake and used the improper designation for his private Boner Dic Pic Tweet (One digit) and it went out to the public for all to see, including Breitbart. Conclusion.
Breitbart should up the ante and threaten to sue ANYBODY who claims that he or anyone associated with Big Journalism hacked the account or photo-shopped the Boner Tweet (as has been claimed by the commie fag junkies* at Kos. <*apologies to the late George Carlin>)
The problems we face today are there because the people who work for a living
Rush handled the Weiner story at the top of the third hour. The tongue-in-cheek monologue was chock full of Weiner puns while he spent nearly 30 minutes discussing with himself why this story was no big deal and didn't really interest him.
Buried within that half hour was at least one small smackdown of AceOfSpades, presumably a payback for Ace commenting on how Rush was wrong about the media telegraphing who they don't want O'Bama to face in 2012. I will have to wait for the transcript but it was pretty obvious to me what that comment was all about.
Anyway, Rush gave WeinerGate a half hour of time (just about as much time as any other subject) while simultaneously protesting that it wasn't much of story. Obviously if something isn't much of a story it isn't mentioned at all and it certainly doesn't get this much air time. I'm not exactly sure what his strategy in this is but it certainly wasn't to ignore it.
BTW...some fuel for the idle speculation fire: Rush is off tomorrow pursuing a "project" that he says he has been working on for some time. The last time this sort of thing happened he was attempting to buy a share of an NFL franchise.
Just watch the whole thing.  If you were ever on the fence, you won't be anymore.
Where is Mrs. Weiner, when hubby is showing so much interest in minors?
Well that ain't gonna work...
http://hotair.com/archives/2011/05/31/weiner-on-being-hacked-hey-it-happens/
Just watch it there.  CNN is actually covering this aggressively.  Of course, even if your a Marxist piece of garbage, calling a CNN reporter a "jackass" probably won't get even them to back off.
About time HotAir picked it up.
Clearly this isn't going away. Not quickly.
Astounding news of the day (perhaps the year) is that CNN has suddenly grown a pair and is actually asking questions and not settling for BS answers.
There is blood in the water. It remains to be seen whether or not media sharks are interested in it beyond this incident.
I am still somewhat stunned by the CNN crew. They actually asked good questions. Particularly about the number of young women who he follows (as opposed to those who follow him) on Twitter. That's a damned good (and obvious) question, an example of one that we have gotten used to the media not asking when a democrat's political life is on the line.
Seriously, I expected CNN to do what they always do...throw him a softball and accept whatever nonsense that he spewed in reply as a reasonable answer or accept it as the answer they were expecting*. Weiner apparently expected that type of treatment, too, and when he didn't get it he was not prepared for it.
So a couple of points about this:
First, Republicans get treated as criminals by the media all the time regardless of the situation or topic and because of that they are better prepared to deal with it. They know in advance that there is an adversarial relationship with the media and they act accordingly. Weiner looks as if he has been cut off at the knees by an ally here and does his best to not look stunned and shocked at the treatment he receives.
Also, I have to wonder just how this happened. It is unreasonable to believe that CNN has turned on a dime and is now an actual journalism/news reporting entity. Someone in authority somewhere is allowing this to happen. Either that or both the reporter and her producer were having a psychotic episode of some kind and will soon be locked in a closet never to be heard from again.
*An example of this occurred in Egypt where a CNN reporter asked "man in the street" questions of several different people, leading questions about how wonderful O'Bama was for supporting the revolution. Without fail, each time a person was asked they instead answered (truthfully) that what happened in Egypt had zero to do with O'Bama and yet the reporter summed up his report by saying the exact opposite...as if he were telling the audience to just ignore what the previous three or four people interviewed actually said and that what they really meant to say was that O'Bama was amazing and made the revolution happen just because he's so wonderful and magical or something.
In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.
