Brazil trending sensible

Brazil’s far-right President-elect Jair Bolsonaro said on Saturday he plans to issue a decree allowing all Brazilians without criminal records to own firearms, welcome news to many core supporters who want him to loosen Brazil’s strict gun laws.

Let it be so.

Of course, much like here...ruling by decree or executive order (pick your term) just means you are one election (stolen or otherwise), coup or assassination away from opposite decrees.

But there is real value in getting what you can while you can.

So, get on with it!

The "Tropical Trump" inaugural speech opening lines:

This moment is priceless.
Serving the country as chief of the Executive,
and this is only possible because God has preserved my life,
and you have believed in me.
Together we have the means to make Brazil take the leading role it deserves in the world
and bring peace and prosperity to our people.
It is with humility and honor that I address all of you, as President of Brazil.
And I stand before the entire nation on this day
as the day the people began to free themselves from socialism.
Get rid of the inversion of values,
of state gigantism and of political correctness.

Elections gave voice to those who had not been heard.
And the voice of the streets and of the ballot boxes were very clear

Little wonder why the MFM is mostly ignoring this, eh?

Hope he has more to work with than Trump.

But then again, look at what Trump has accomplished even WITH the obstacles.

True.

They are both becoming BFFs, which could be a good thing for the region.

I found this interesting - https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2019/01/populist-brazilian-president-bolsonaro-says-he-is-open-to-hosting-a-us-military-base-in-the-future/

Wouldn't Russia and Venezuela like that?!   ;D

When crime gets too high people often take care of it one way or another.
Sometimes reality is strange. Some author, maybe Robert D. Kaplan, described a hillslide slum maybe in South America(?). Little boys and girls walked from their hovels to school, alone, wearing clean school uniforms.  No parents with them. They were safe. Anyone messing with them would be cut into tiny pieces.

Vigilantes seem to have an effect.
