NO! Tim Conway, 85
« on: May 14, 2019, 02:18:03 PM »
I’m more sad about this celeb death than any I can remember in quite a while. My childhood memories are filled with laughing along with this man. A true comedy genius, from days when comedy was funny because it was clever and zany, not mean.

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Yep. Grew up with great comedians like Groucho Marx, George Burns, Henny Youngman, and Tim Conway. Sadly that chapter seems to have come to a close.

George Burns was once asked what his morning routine was. "First thing I do when I get up is to open the newspaper to the obituaries. If I don't see my name listed then I make coffee..."

It's almost as funny watching the rest of the cast struggle to stay in character, when Tim Conway took off, as watching Conway himself.

Good stuff.  Makes most all the stuff on today look like 3rd-rate swill.

I'm with IDP, this loss hits a little more than the others recently passed, and Tim was the crazy glue that pulled that show together, the others like Carol & Harvey very talented...but Tim elevated that show.  It could not have succeeded without any of the top 3 but it would have suffered more without Tim.

I bet he's cracking people up in Heaven now.   ::thumbsup::
We are now where The Founders were when they faced despotism.

Love this. Makes no sense if you haven’t seen the sketch, but almost everybody of our generation has seen the sketch! Don’t know how it got attached twice, but oh well... twice the fun!
