The Nazis passed laws and posted notices that everyone had to turn in guns and short wave radios. I never knew if those were just transmitters or it also included receivers. The radio ban is similar to the internet deplatforming of today. No independent communication was wanted.

The gun grabbers say that modern firearms are no match against the US military so it  is stupid to argue they could be used against the govt.  The Nazis didn't think so did they?

This is something I've been thinking about but haven't fully developed into a counter argument:

Second Amendment opponents talk about the sophistication of modern firearms & how they're w-a-y beyond the muskets around which Amendment #2 was crafted.

But the SAME thing could be said about the First Amendment/Freedom of the Press. Today's sophisticated digital communication tools (computers, tablets, cloud storage, instant messaging, social media, etc) are akin to the same advancements in firearms - so screw the MSM's complaints regarding attacks and/or restrictions of press passes, etc.

If the level of sophistication determines whether or not the freedom in question is valid anymore -- then no freedoms are safe.

Your point is well-taken, however, repeating rifles go back to the early 1600s.

The main element the Left always misses about the Founders/Framers, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights is human nature and its/our meaning and spirit, and it is about these that our Rights are based.  The technicalities and mechanics of weapons and printing presses were and are always beside the point.

Just as the Bible was written and The Lord's Commandments were given with Man's Nature in mind, all of these things pertain to how best men should live their lives in relative peace and with grace.

The Founders recognized and paid tribute to natural law (God's law) when they memorialized our intrinsic right to defend ourselves against a tyrannical government in the second amendment - any tyrannical government. Had they intended to grandfather only a select or symbolic array of weaponry they would have enumerated that limitation. They didn't. Instead they omitted the technical details and allowed parity to prevail.

Of course the left - being natural tyrants - have always sought to chip away at these rights.

You all are correct.  They saw no difference between what a soldier has or the private person has for firearms or any weapon...because they saw both as the same...both having the same God-given right...and because they feared standing armies of the like their British oppressors had and as every monarch at the time had and as every tyrant in history had.  We the People are the ultimate arbiter of our Liberty, not government and not terrorists!

If present today the Founders would not ban fully-automatic guns...citizens could possess tanks, helicopter gunships and jet fighters if they had the means to acquire them.  It is only a tool, and if not misused to encroach or harm anybody else's Life and Liberty...none of anybody's  ::cussing:: business!!!

There have been a few right-side pundits intimating growing rightwing support for gabbard. I don't believe it and can guess why they're to FUD us. Personally I find it laughable at best. Like JF said, "The enemy of my enemy is still my enemy".

I won't throw in with someone who is violently opposed to my principles just because they're spatting with an avowed enemy.
