What happened to the mermaid on top of the Mermaid in MN?
« on: September 28, 2019, 09:21:48 PM »

I only recently saw it was gone.
I know some people here know about the Mermaid.
For outsiders it is a place of refined MN culture.
I do not know how it started but it is a bar restaurant. Bowling alley.

I found a link below but thought I should share.

One of my old haunts (along with the no longer extant Paul's Place, Flaherty's, Gopher Bar, Serum's, OK I can do this all day)...especially for bar prowling and shooting pool...I miss seeing the old girl gazing out towards old highway 10...sucks...haven't been inside there in a long time, not sure if they ever got around to putting her back somewhere...they needed approval from the city...which is ridiculous...what was once there before should be there again!

Last time I was there for fun was watching the last playoff game of the North Stars April 30th 1992...a 5-2 loss to the Red Wings.  Been there for various ballroom events...wouldn't necessarily call those fun...more like necessary...
