A 17-year-old boy interning for the Republican challenger of Rep. Ilhan Omar was fatally shot in north Minneapolis on Monday, according to reports.

The fatal victim, Andre Conley, was among two outreach workers for Lacy Johnson’s campaign that were struck by gunfire outside of a Super USA convenience store, WCCO reported.

Lacy’s campaign told the network that the two were not performing campaign duties at the time of the shooting, and the act of violence is not believed to be politically motivated.
