Let the surreptitious recordings of this event commence.

As Newsquawk notes, the key at this meeting will be to gauge the atmosphere between the leaders, and whether this sets the precedence for a more productive meeting in the future. As usual, a joint statement would be seen as constructive, although Biden recently met with top Russia experts ahead of the summit who advised him against doing a joint press conference, and is expect to be alone during the post-meeting press conference, unlike Trump who stood side-by-side with the Russian leader.

I admire Putin. I think he did a lot of good for Russia. Oligarchs owned most of Russia somehow. He made them an offer they couldn't refuse, Godfather style.

I don't know much about Navalny but don't buy the nerve agent theory. If Putin (or the mafia or the CIA) wanted someone dead they would be dead. The method is simple. Walk up behind someone with a silenced 22 and put a bullet in their head. Rub nerve agent in their underwear?

Also, Navalny has maybe 2% support in Russia. He is famous for his campaign ad comparing Muslims to cockroaches where he shoots the Muslim dead. The MSM treats him a saint.

Meanwhile in Ukraine, the president threw his main opponent in prison for treason or something like that and he closed down several opposition TV stations saying they pushed Russian propaganda. The MSM is quiet about that.

Putin was sharp. This is likely the only time Americans get hear the other side of the story.

He talks about the Minsk agreements. Years ago there was the dust up between Eastern Ukraine and Kiev. Kiev started it by banning the Russian language in certain places and things like that. Germany and France ran to negotiate, keeping the US far away. They walked away with a set of agreements. Both sides agreed to keep soldiers and weapons set distances away from the 'contact line.' The heavier the weapons the greater the distance. Kiev and the two Eastern regions were required to negotiate with each other directly.

Years later Kiev (the Ukrainian president) wrote a memo threatening to retake Crimea. They also moved their weapons up to or closer to the contact line. The Russians responded by moving their troops to the Ukraine border. The MSM did not usually report this.

The Duran guys go into why the summit was a joke and marvel at how clueless the US govt and MSM are.
IMO the US is using sanctions too much and will drive to world away from using the dollar and to create their own finance systems. Kicking Russia off SWIFT is one such move, if that is done.

Most of my deployments the fun begins when chasing off Ivan's Bear and Badger bombers when they come to snoop on us and to do silent speed runs at night to outrun Ivan's poorly disguised "fishing" intel boats. First squadron attached to was recon and I saw more than one pic where Ivan is holding up contraband (Playboy) and grinning or pressing their ham on glass. Our pilots would return the appreciation.
