An acquaintance, retired pilot, flies standby to there every several weeks. He recently married his long-time girlfriend and was beginning the Visa paperwork to bring her here, while pondering whether he should or not. He is of the opinion that the country is so poor and "uneducated" that he'd not be surprised they'd vote for Socialism, thinking as the poor and ignorant do, that the Socialist would provide for their needs.
I asked him if they are unaware of the results of that hope in Venezuela. No, they don't pay attention, he said, but Argentina is closer to them and provides an equally bad demonstration. So, .............
Uneducated does not necessarily equate to ignorance, but Latin America is what it is.
